Home Inspiration: Cinco de Mayo

Decorate your home with some Mexican flair

Cinco de Mayo is observed to commemorate the Mexican army’s unlikely victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862, under the leadership of General Ignacio Zaragoza Seguín. In America, we celebrate by eating Mexican food, drinking margaritas, and attempting to speak Spanish.

At Dalton Carpet One, Cinco de Mayo brings ideas of Mexican interior decorating. Mexican will always be a great inspiration if you want to have a colorful result. It shows a great energy as well as a good vibe.

Bright Colors

Bright pink, bright blue, bright yellow- all remind me of the Mexican culture. In Mexico, whole buildings will be painted with bright colors and it can be stunning, yet also a bit too much.

Add bright colors with festive patterns to your home with an area rug, throw pillow, accent piece, or blanket. This is a great way to add this pop of brightness without overwhelming the space.

Mexican Tiles

From orange/brown Saltillo Tiles to colorful blue and green patterned tiles, this is a common trend among Mexican homes. Lay your kitchen with these huge Saltillo tiles adds warmth to the home. It is rustic, yet luxurious.

Florals can be found in tile, textiles, pottery, and even furniture in a traditional Mexican home. Of course, these flowers are bright pink, red, and yellow. Mexican flair can be added with a piece of pottery with bright flowers painted on it, an accent piece of furniture, or a blanket with floral embroidery. The take away here is bright and bold- add these elements and you have achieved traditional Mexican décor!
Now it’s time for chips, queso, and a margarita. Ole!
